General ======= I, the operator of this website, consider your privacy quite important. Therefore I intend to store as little personal data as possible. If you know of any technical option to improve my setup or are in general upset with the situation as explained below, I hope to hear of you. Common data =========== When your browser (or other HTTP client) sends a normal request, i.e. when attempting to "load" a web-page or any other ressource, such as an image - which may be part of a web-page - the browser accompanies this request with some data related to you, notably including your public IP address. The IP address is stored in anonymized form. For IPv4 addresses, only the first two bytes are stored, for IPv6 addresses, only the first 4 bytes. Cookies ======= If you use the contact form (`contact.php'), a so called cookie will be stored by your browser, unless you disabled them, in which case the contact form is rendered useless. This cookie essentially contains a randomly generated unique identifier (ID), which, on the web server, is associated with a randomly generated token, that fullfills the purpose to prevent a so called Cross-Site-Request-Forgery (CSRF), an attack where you are tricked into sending a request to this website while visiting another, unassociated one. The cookie is a so called session-cookie, i.e. your browser should delete it at the latest when you close your browser. Contact ======= If you contact me, either by the above mentioned contact form or by e-mail, your message will be stored on this server and possibly on other devices of mine, in order to read it. Your name and e-mail address, the chosen subject and the date of receival are considered part of the message and hence also stored. If you send your message by e-mail, my mail server additionally stores several details of the connection to the sending mail server, including its fully qualified domain name (FQDN) and IP address. Usually, those data do not directly relate to you, assuming that you use some big e-mail provider. Also, any headers your mail client (e.g. webmail or Thunderbird) supplies with your message are considered part of the message and stored. That is the purpose of those headers. Forwarding of personal data =========================== No data that can be related to you is forwarded to any third party, unless you explicitly allow this, e.g. via e-mail or the contact form. Note, that upon using the contact form, the owner of the website will be forwarded your message (see above). The involved mail server is not controlled by a third party, either. Right of objection and enquiry ============================== At any point in time you may demand to get a copy of all the data related to you or to have it deleted. Such request will be granted at no cost.
